About the library

The Icelandic Library for the Blind, founded in 1982, is a governmental institution under the Ministry of Education. The library's customers are unable to read ordinary print; individuals who are blind, those who have partial sight and those who deal with dyslexia and other reading disabilities.People aged over 80 years are welcome to borrow talking books from the library even though they do not have any reading disabilities.

The Icelandic Library for the Blind produces talking books intended for leisure reading as well as various educational materials. Between five and six thousand people enjoy books produced at the Icelandic Library for the Blind.


Opening hours

The Icelandic Library for the Blind, Digranesvegi 5, is open mondays - fridays from 10 am to 4 pm.

All books are sent to our patrons via mail or downloaded through this webpage.
